The creative vision for Cameo by RUX comes from RUX Design, a Manhattan based multidisciplinary design studio founded in 2008 by Russell Greenberg. The mission of the brand is to create precious heirloom objects that you can't help but love because they are literally a part of you. Each portrait rethinks classical representations of the profile, using the unique curves of an individual's silhouette to create custom jewelry and limited edition art objects that are beautifully discreet and timeless in design.
The idea for Cameo by RUX was born when Russell was shopping for wedding bands with his wife. "Before I got married, a ring was just a ring, but now I understand there is a tremendous amount of emotional and symbolic content wrapped up in jewelry", says Greenberg. "I set out to create the most personal ring in the world, which led me on a larger mission to explore the possibilities of an entire brand built on the premise that everything is personal."
The debut collection includes custom 18-karat gold and platinum rings, custom resin bangles, and limited edition porcelain busts. Each piece is made locally in Manhattan or in the immediate tri-state area using a combination of centuries-old craftsmanship and 21st-century technology.
